چکیده
Oxidative N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) catalysis offers the chance to perform oxidative and oxygenative transformations which give rise various NHC-bound intermediates, paving way non-umpolung processes through activation of carbon atoms heteroatoms. The aim this review is discuss developments literature in field NHC-catalysis since 2014, with particular focus pivotal intermediates their mechanistic involvement. Enantioselective cyclopropanation of enals by oxidative N-heterocyclic carbene catalysis.
Carbene catalysed redox activation of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes is applied for generation of α,β-unsaturated acyl azoliums which undergo cyclopropanation upon reaction with a sulfur ylide and an alcohol to give the corresponding cyclopropanecarboxylic acid esters. With chiral carbenes good to excellent diastereo and enantioselectivities are obtained.
متن کاملDirect α-functionalization of simple aldehydes via oxidative N-heterocyclic carbene catalysis.
A direct α-functionalization of simple aldehydes under N-Heterocyclic Carbene (NHC) catalysis and direct generation of ester enolate equivalents from nonfunctionalized aldehydes are disclosed. The catalysis involves selective enolate generation from an oxidatively generated NHC-bounded ester intermediate as a key step. The ester enolate intermediates undergo stereoselective reactions with enone...
متن کاملOxidative γ-addition of enals to trifluoromethyl ketones: enantioselectivity control via Lewis acid/N-heterocyclic carbene cooperative catalysis.
An oxidative γ-functionalization of enals under N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) catalysis to give unsaturated δ-lactones is disclosed. Enantioselectivity control involving the relatively remote enal γ-carbon was achieved via Lewis acid [Sc(OTf)(3) or combined Sc(OTf)(3)/Mg(OTf)(2)] and NHC cooperative catalysis.
متن کاملBimetallic redox synergy in oxidative palladium catalysis.
Polynuclear transition metal complexes, which are embedded in the active sites of many metalloenzymes, are responsible for effecting a diverse array of oxidation reactions in nature. The range of chemical transformations remains unparalleled in the laboratory. With few noteworthy exceptions, chemists have primarily focused on mononuclear transition metal complexes in developing homogeneous cata...
متن کاملMagnesium and zinc complexes of functionalised, saturated N-heterocyclic carbene ligands: carbene lability and functionalisation, and lactide polymerisation catalysis.
The synthesis of magnesium and zinc complexes of bidentate anionic alkoxide ligands with saturated-backbone carbene groups is reported. Mono(ligand) and bis(ligand) complexes [M(L(R))N''](2) and [M(L(R))(2)] (M = Mg, Zn, N'' = N(SiMe(3))(2), L(R) = [OCMe(2)CH(2){CNCH(2)CH(2)NR}] R = (i)Pr, Mes, Dipp) have been isolated, and some structurally characterised and compared with the new unsaturated c...
